Protein Smoothie Recipes

protein smoothie, allmax nutrition

Below are 3 of my favourite protein smoothie recipes. I will usually have one or two per day. One for post-workout and one as a meal replacement. The meal replacement ones usually contain a fat from healthy oil, seeds, nuts, or avocado (this makes a nice thick shake). This is because the fat is slow to digest and satiating. You want quicker digestion after a workout so it is best to avoid fat immediately after. I usually use whey protein powder, but it may be also beneficial to use a combination protein (whey, casein, and egg) because they have varied digestion rates. I also try to go natural as much as possible by avoiding artificial sweeteners. I use most frequently use AllMax IsoNatural, but sometimes ATP or Ergogenics New Zealand Whey.

1a. Post-Workout Chocolate Banana Smoothie

1-2 scoops of AllMax IsoNatural Whey Isolate (Chocolate), 1tsp of AllMax glutamine, banana, a teaspoon honey or maple syrup, a sprinkling of cinnamon, and 250ml of water (more of less for desired thickness).

1b. Meal Replacement Version

1-2 scoops of AllMax IsoNatural Whey Isolate (Chocolate), 1 teaspoon of AllMax glutamine, banana, half an avocado (adds healthy fats and thickness), 2 tablespoons of nut butter (Nuts to You - either peanut or cashew and almond), 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds, a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup, a sprinkling of cinnamon, and 250ml of water or milk (more of less for desired thickness).
