During my years in the kinesiology program at York University, I became very passionate about personal training, methodology of training (particularly Dr. Tudor Bompa's periodization methods), fitness assessment, and nutrition. I was the student of many great professors and coaches (including neurophysiology professor Dr. L. Sergio who has developed fitness tests for NHL draft players, and Olympic Volleyball coach H. Humana). I have studied and been inspired by some of the greatest minds in the fitness industry, including; Vladimir Zatsiorsky, Tudor Bompa (aforementioned), Mel Siff, Pavel Tsatsouline, Dr. Jim Stoppani, Valery Fedorenko, Steve Cotter (who I have been fortunate enough to interview here), Brooks Kublik, Louie Simmons, Jon Hinds, John Brookfield, and Scott Sonnon. While studying at York, I became certified as a Fitness Consultant with C.S.E.P. (Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology) and a Personal Trainer Specialist with Can-Fit-Pro.

After graduating in 2006, I founded Personal Trainer in Toronto. Over the years, I have trained and/or counseled hundreds of clients of all abilities, ranging from children to elderly. I constantly expand my knowledge base and skills with continuing education (recently completing courses in: older adult fitness, fitness business, advanced exercise nutrition, advanced exercise anatomy). I am currently taking a course on flexibility assessment and prescription. In addition to my required professional development, I spend time reading and writing aricles (for fitness magazines, universities, and credible online blogs). I also mentor fitness professionals and ones in the process of becoming certified. I gain a variety of perspectives from networking with many fitness and health professionals (including: fitness trainers, older adult specialists, strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists, chiropractors, holistic health practitioners, massage therapists, dieticians, and nutrition consultants). My mission is to set the standard of excellence in the fitness industry.

In 2010, I received the designation of Certified Kinesiologist from the Ontario Kinesiology Association. This enables me to train special populations. I am excited about this opportunity to provide my services to a wider population.

Aside from my career in fitness, I enjoy participating in charity athletic events (including runs and stair climbs). These endeavours fuel my competitive spirit and provide new challenges for myself and my clients. One of these recent challenges is an epic bike ride from coast to coast, the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride. One of my clients, Behnam Rad will be particpating in this journey September 2011. Please sponsor him here: www.searsnationalkidscancerride.com .
